SA Weekend Trips?

Hey--kind of a dumb question.

SA at a huge NY firm known for having lots of social events (associates say everyday). I'd like to go to all or almost all of them, but I'm also planning a weekend trip. Should I hold off on this until I get my events schedule, or are there generally no events (and unlikely work) Saturday-Sundays? I'd fly out Saturday morning, fly back Sunday night.

Book now or book after I get the schedule?

Thanks

I know forums can be useful, and I honestly do not intend to be rude, but this is a basic life decision that you should be capable of making on your own. If you want to go on the trip, and it may be important to book now, then do it and just inform the firm / decline any social events that weekend. If the trip isn't that important, and you REALLY want to be available for everything the firm offers, then don't take the trip. It's not going to make or break your summer or determine whether you get an offer.

Weekend events are not uncommon, but you will absolutely be fine missing an event to go out of town.

You can totally book the trip. Weekend events aren't quite as common, so it likely won't conflict at all. And even if it did conflict, no one will mind at all if you miss one event. So long as you don't make a habit of skipping out on social events, you are fine.

I'm sure SAs often miss at least one weekend of events each summer due to obligatory things like weddings of family/friends.

While it's fine to miss anything happening that weekend, if there's no time pressure, it may still make sense to wait until you have a schedule and/or sense for how the summer will play out?

If your sister is getting married, put it on the calendar and don't worry for a second. If you're picking a weekend to go camping with your buddy, worth making sure you won't be missing anything major (though weeknights are overwhelmingly more common than weekends, you still might want to avoid planning the trip for a weekend after a major Friday activity or something?)

Right--this is exactly my situation. It's a fun trip that has zero time/week constraints (I can do it anytime, or not at all). So I will wait until the events calendar is out.

Thanks for the responses!
