PLIP Bid List Help

Post by Anonymous User » Wed Apr 16, 2014 12:30 am

Hey everyone!
Never done this "bidding" ordeal before. Thought I'd get some helpful input from you all, as always.
My Info:

inside the top 30% but school doesn't give exact ranks outside the top 10.
uGPA is very, very, very... very poor; 2.79.

I'm fine with both IP Lit and Prosecution.
Looking for Chicago > Boston > NYC > DC in order of geographic preference. But if I should target the west coast or any other region, please let me know. I'm all up for suggestions!

Paul Hastings Chicago doesn't really do IP. Are they even interviewing for Chicago? There is one guy working w/ the NYC office, but I doubt they are hiring for him. Either way, I wouldn't go there. You'd be better off applying for their DC or Palo Alto offices.

Baker Botts DC likes high UGPA. Pick a different firm.

I'd seriously consider dropping boston and NYC bids and going to SF/SV. Though you might be able to do the SFIPLA fair too.

Do some research. Figure out what each firm actually does. Don't bid on firms that don't do computer/software work.

Thanks for the input! I guess just filtering by my major on symplicity won't cut it.

Anybody else able to chime in?

Well, for one, Alston and Bird says to only bid on the office you are most interested in, and then you can name another in your cover letter if you want. Other firms have similar rules. Not trying to be dickish, but you need to follow the directions.
