Fed gov interview reimbursement

Post by Anonymous User » Tue Apr 08, 2014 6:27 pm

3L going to school in NYC. I have an interview with a federal agency in DC in 2 weeks. The interview is in the morning so I'm going to need to stay in DC. That plus travel is a bit pricey. Is it reasonable to ask for a reimbursement?

The feds don't reimburse for interviews. They don't have the budget for that.

It depends on the agency. For full time jobs, agencies like the DOJ will reimburse applicants. However, they would offer to do it and would have you book your trip through their travel office. If they don't offer and have you book the travel yourself, your odds of getting reimbursed aren't good.
