"Lateraling" from NYC to Philly during 3L?

Hi All,

I'm looking for some advice on switching markets. Currently a 3L with a post-grad gig in NYC at a V10, but for family reasons I would really like to be in Philly after graduation (or I would have to commute to Philly very frequently) and my firm has no Philly office. Any advice on how to go about talking to firms this late in the process or know of any Philly firms hiring? What are the chances at success on this do you think?

If it helps to know my credentials: I'm at a T14, top 30%, and LR with work experience and, as I said above, supposed to start at a V10 this fall.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks.

The Philly firms are done with their 3L recruiting. I would still reach out, but that ship probably sailed back in October.

Yeah, that's a bummer. I was going to suggest talking to Penn profs to use their contacts. Can you ask at your law school and see if anyone knows any professors at Penn, Temple, Nova or Drexel? That might be a way to get at it.

I would stick it out for a year, then start putting feelers out to go to philly.
