Biglaw to SEC

Can anyone provide insight into about how much experience you would need as a biglaw attorney to move to the SEC? I'm considering the Division of Investment Management. I have experience with both private and registered funds and have done some work with derivatives/ISDA as well. Is it about the same level of experience as is required for in-house positions (~3-5 years), or do they take people sooner? Thanks in advance.

It's gonna be tough, to be honest. Folks from even the highly regarded mid-majors usually just aren't ready for the kind of strength and speed they'll face in the SEC, much less folks coming from an intramural/rec league law firm environment.
