Confirmation of acceptance letter

I have heard that after accepting a judicial externship over the phone, it is encouraged and/or required by some schools to send a letter to the judge confirming acceptance of offer, start/end dates and any other pertinent material. My school doesn't seem to have an examples or sample letters. Wondering if anyone has an examples or sample letters, links to sites with examples, or any suggests. Thanks!
