Prestige/experience rank of a USAO position?

How do you guys think a USAO internship holds up against a federal judicial internship?
For sake of scale imagine the judicial externship is a 5/10. Assuming someone has already done the judicial internship and has an SA lined up, would this be a good step for the resume and experience?

You're going to be watching a lot of trials and doing a lot of research and writing. It's not a huge resume boost or game changer.
Just do it for fun. Don't worry about "rank" or prestige dude.

Just trying to prioritize.

How hard is it to land a 1L USAO job? I applied to a USAO office in the city where I went to undergrad if that makes any difference.

I'm just a 1L but I don't think 1L summer judicial internships are especially prestigious... Clerking after graduation is but, that's different.
If you're interested in prosecution or DOJ, sure USAO is probably fine, but really try to do something along the lines of what you want to do after graduation or that gets you experience. That's going to probably matter more than "prestige"

All that matters is that you can talk about an interesting assignment or two during an interview. Prestige is completely irrelevant to 1L summer jobs.

Do USAO
You've already done judge stuff
Thanks, man. I honestly was planning on doing some type of 3-4 unit pass/fail anyway. Really do not want to extern or do a clinic again.

Realize that taking any sort of prosecutorial position will pretty much eliminate going to any public-service defense position ever, though. I wish someone had told me that during 1L year.

Luckily, I have already gotten what I needed from this post, but to highlight, THIS IS NOT FOR A 1L.
This is for a 3L who already has done the judicial externship, has a summer associate gig lined up, et cetera.
This was just to figure out if the USAO was worth doing.

If you can do it for credit and not take some classes...why not...

Even certain civil legal aid attorneys look askance at anyone with any sort of prosecutorial experience.

That is why I'm leaning towards it.
