You're mixing up the expected 2013 class sizes reported on NALP with the 2014 class sizes disclosed in this thread (for both Cahill and Stroock), but the point that some firms have decreased class sizes still stands.lgleye wrote:Willkie is a bright hopeful spot. been slow and steady (always 36-42 SA's) through this shit-storm, I guess holding back a bit during the boom times paid off. Come to think about it, Cahill Gordon, reported earlier ITT, hired only 40 SA firmwide, compared to their originally reported 51 total on NALP.

Re: Summer Classes 2014 Edition
I'm 99% sure the reference is for number of SAs they were anticipating to work during summer 2013, not the number of expected SA hires during 2013 OCI. Still can be a somewhat useful tool for OCI though, since the year-to-year changes in number of SA slots doesn't seem to be too volatile on the whole (obviously some firms might be exceptions to this).lgleye wrote:Yikes, sorry for the mix-up. However, I'm currently looking at Stroock's NALP hiring grid here http://nalpdirectory.com/employer_profi ... #collapse1ansteam wrote:You're mixing up the expected 2013 class sizes reported on NALP with the 2014 class sizes disclosed in this thread (for both Cahill and Stroock), but the point that some firms have decreased class sizes still stands.lgleye wrote:Willkie is a bright hopeful spot. been slow and steady (always 36-42 SA's) through this shit-storm, I guess holding back a bit during the boom times paid off. and it shows an "Expected" 23 2L positions for OCI 2013. Am I reading this wrong? Shit, I was depending on this methodology for my bidlist last summer....... thank God I didn't screw myself.

I heard that they were so many Columbia students' #1 choice that they had to bring extra lawyers to OCI just so everyone who put them as their top choice could get an interview.Anonymous User wrote:Harvard - 3Anonymous User wrote:Awesome!! Probably because the year before they had 205 bids for only 60 slots. (Source: https://web.law.columbia.edu/sites/defa ... s-2012.pdf) If you didn't bid them #1, you weren't going to get them.Yeshia90 wrote:

I bid them #1 this past OCI and didn't get a screener. Ended up getting one after speaking with some people in their hospitality suite, though. They were really awesome about it.

Re: Summer Classes 2014 Edition
Heard from a summer at strook that apparently way too many people accepted strook last year and so they had an abnormally large summer class... so it may have be more like right sizingAnonymous User wrote:My experience was that they were pretty up front about decreasing their class size. Seems others had a similar experience. This is from the Penn OCI thread in August:lgleye wrote:Jeez..... Last OCI, Stroock reported 23 available SA positions on NALP. I guess they re-considered midstream and cut back in order to avoid a 'Kasowitz' fiasco. This runs counter to my hope of a return to larger classes at NYC.Anonymous User wrote:Stroock NY

But its obviously not a good sign regardless.Stroock 2013 summer class 23 this summer 15. It's bad out there people. Plan accordingly. Mass mail mid size and maybe shit law too.

I don't know about others, but my DC office shrank from a usual 7-9 to 2-3 people, so sharing stats would definitely out me.jbagelboy wrote:How come we have zero DC office info?
