Does anyone know what the starting salary is (or at least, the range) for a new associate for a private criminal defense firm in NYC/LI?

I think this is one of those things where there are too many variables for someone on this board to give you a reasonable answer. NYC is going to have private criminal defense firms ranging from DUI mills to high-end shops that the masters of the universe hire when their kid gets picked up with an 8-ball. Pay is going to be very different at all of those.
