Top Law Schools

sorry if this is a super naive question, but i'm just wondering...picking a law school felt super important when i was first applying, but it now seems like kids from a pretty wide range of schools end up competing for many of the same jobs. At the end of the day, does the harvard kid who works for, say, schulte have any advantage over the GW kid there? How bout the Duke alum at Cravath vs. the Yale alum? Guess I'm just at a loss for why picking a law school felt so important or why picking a firm feels so important now.

School you went to will matter very little in the working world. You'll have some connection with your alumni network, sure, but once you start at Name & Ampersand LLP everyone is going to be on more or less even footing.

The reason Harvard was a better choice than Duke is because it's statistically more likely to land at a desirable legal job from Harvard than it is from Duke.

I went to a second tier school and was hired alongside a bunch of recent grads from Harvard, NYU, and Cornell. The difference? For me, the job offer was a miracle. For them, it was one of several options.
