plaintiffs litigation firms for median students

I've been looking into plaintiffs firms to apply to (more on the mass tort, environmental, any type of litigation except securities), and all I keep hearing about are the super prestigious elite boutiques. What are some plaintiffs firms that are more in the range of a median lower T14 student??
Important: I am a 2L looking for a summer position

Just look into midlaw/small/boutique shops with these practice groups.

But how?? Where? I'm really stressing here because I've looked everywhere but can only find lists of biglaw defense litigation firms. I can't find any sort of directory of plaintiffs firms at all! And I really need to start applying!

I'm unaware of any compilation or directory. I'd just start Googling.

This. Also, start making connections and networking. Both my small plaintiffs' firm clerk jobs came from talking to a guy. Often times each state has a plaintiffs' bar. Go to a CLE event or a dinner or something and ask around.

Sign up for a free trial of law360 and look at who the plaintiffs firms are in the stories they cover.

Going plaintiff's side right off the bat is, in my experience, rare -- particularly in smaller shops. It's a different story if you're in a tertiary-market "big law" office that happens to have a plaintiff's practice. Otherwise, a lot of people start as prosecutors or doing defense work.

Most firms of those types (i.e. non-securities focused), with the few possible exceptions of places like Altshuler Berzon or Lieff Cabraser, do not have summer programs.
But if all you're interested is a list of plaintiffs-side firms (i.e., non-securities), then your CSO should be able to pull a list just by punching a keystroke or two. Start there.
Otherwise, this list is a pretty rough outline of some of the more notable names/firms in the industry, and can be a good starting point.

Why the distinction between securities and non-securities?
Related: do securities plaintiffs' firms value work experience in the financial sector?

I made the distinction because the OP did.

Yes. I can't speak for all firms, but many do.

Check out the firms involved in AAJ (new orleans is the winter event this year) and the Trial lawyers associations in your regions. Go to the events and network. If you are interested in Mass torts, go on pacer or westlaw and look at the firms filing cases in the various MDLs (there should be hundreds for each mdl). If you are interested, you can pm me for more info.

That's sort of an odd list, do you know the criteria? Some notable firms missing (like Hausfield, or VSG) Also, it's a bit dated as some of those firm names have changed I think.
