I'm applying for a summer spot with a civil rights firm. My undergrad was science-based with multiple publications, and I'm on a tech journal at my school.

Best to list or leave out the journal?
Scientific pubs?
Only list degree as B.S.?

Personally, I'd list it. Maybe spin it as an interest in First Amendment/online speech issues/etc. if asked.

It's total speculation, but I think firms probably like the writing experience that comes with any journal...

Edit: referring to journal, if that wasn't clear.

"Has secondary journal spot" is just a box you check. It doesn't really matter what journal if it's not Law Review. I guess if you had joined "White Power Law Journal" (were there such a thing) and were applying to a civil rights job, that would take some explaining. But otherwise they'd rather see it there than not.

I'm on a secondary journal which isn't related to any jobs I would like, and I was never asked in 25+ interviews "why not [journal x]?" They simply don't care.

ETA: this refers to law school journals. I imagine it matters even less for an undergrad journal.
