Well....I've gotten a lot of very thin envelopes in the mail lately (OMM NWB, Latham, Deckert, etc)....but have also heard from a few classmates that some offers have went out (Gibson and Paul Hastings LA). I'm still waiting on a number of CB "decisions" and quite honestly just want this s*hit over with.... Anyone get offers yet from LA, OC, or San Fran offices yet?

I went through the same thing a few years back. The LA market sucks right now and has sucked for a while.

Got an offer from a V50 firm this week. Had the callback last Wednesday.
My friend and classmate has two offers, one is a V30 firm the other is V60.
All of the above are for LA offices.

It must pretty tough, both schools will be lucky to place one quarter in big law especially USC who had their biggest class ever.

UCLA here. I've heard of offers from Gibson, Irell, OMM, Proskauer, Quinn and Latham. All LA offices.
But really most people are still doing CBs this week and into the next or are just waiting in silence.

USC. CB's at Dechert, snell & wilmer, Greenberg Glusker and Pircher. Nothing yet from Manatt, sheppard or stradling...I assume dings, but have they all given CB's.
Also, one CB invite came yesterday after complete silence since EIW.

Everyone said that the past couple years, but it turned out they were wrong. It was more like 1/3 for each school. Anyone claiming they can predict how this cycle will end up ahead of time is selling you a line. They aren't worth arguing with.
You aren't going to know if you struck out till at least the end of Sept - early Oct. Until then, the next month is open season on biglaw. You should be mass mailing firms to get any interview you can. A good friend of mine struck out in OCI, but landed a gig at an LA V20 through mass mail. This is esp important for people who don't have too many callbacks and thus have more time on their hands.
Finally, if you do strike out, there is a simple course of action for you: Get your GPA up, because you're probably headed for the clerkship hustle. Improving grades as a 2L/3L is far easier than as a 1L. Both UCLA/USC have generous upperclassmen curves, and at least one school offers uncurved seminars graded on a paper (DO THESE). Most importantly, 2L's and 3L's won't be trying as hard. Bring the same 1L intensity and your grades will probably improve. The clerkship is attainable for UCLA and USC students, and gives you a great launching pad from which to get on the small-midlaw application grind.
