Stay at V25 firm or go solo

I'm probably going to get a bashing for this but I intensely dislike firm life. From what I gather, it's similar at other firms. Associates are talked down to, berated, and treated like idiots sometimes--associates who graduated near the top of their class at a variety of T14s. I cannot stand it.
The Question: Is it completely stupid to leave and start solo practice?
I do understand that I may not make the same amount of money. If pursuing solo-practice is an option, are there effective ways to start? (marketing, etc.) I may have other lawyers who would be willing to join and invest. Student loans are no longer a concern.
Any advice would be appreciated.
