Yes of course.
I'm top 15% and still don't have an offer.
Are you at least waiting to hear back from CBs?

I still don't have an offer. You're not alone. There's quite a few people without offers still.

I mean, doesn't the majority of the class at Cornell (~60%) not get big law? Not having something lined up isn't an aberration, it's typical.

Actually the majority has in past years. For example, last year 64% were in firms of 100+ attorneys.Anonymous User wrote:I mean, doesn't the majority of the class at Cornell (~60%) not get big law? Not having something lined up isn't an aberration, it's typical.

Just curious, where did you get that number from?ImNoScar wrote:Actually the majority has in past years. Its from this ABA data: http://employmentsummary.abaquestionnaire.org/BullShitWithBravado wrote:Just curious, where did you get that number from?ImNoScar wrote:Actually the majority has in past years. 122/190 are in firms of 100+ or Article III clerks.
And to clarify, when I said last year, I meant data from the class of 2012, which is the most recent comprehensive employment data. Career services alleged that for current 3Ls it was closer to 70% but they did not provide any data. We will have to wait until the Spring to find out how the class of 2013 did.

I'm curious to see how class of 2013 did. I don't remember the exact number, but I think DeRosa told us that about 85% of that class got something out of AJF. I doubt that that number is accurate though.ImNoScar wrote:Its from this ABA data: http://employmentsummary.abaquestionnaire.org/BullShitWithBravado wrote:Just curious, where did you get that number from?ImNoScar wrote:Actually the majority has in past years. That number seems high. NYU reported that 17% didn't get an offer through EIW (OCI) last year, so that would be surprising if Cornell did better, but possible.BullShitWithBravado wrote:ImNoScar wrote:BullShitWithBravado wrote:

Any news on how our class has done for OCI/biglaw placement? I talked to Dean Lukingbeal earlier this month and she said that Dean De Rosa was waiting for after Fall Break to tally the final numbers.

They're going to talk about it at a meeting with student group leaders. No idea when that meeting will be though, but I'm guessing sometime in NovAnonymous User wrote:Any news on how our class has done for OCI/biglaw placement? Cornell has a bunch of other advantages. to name a big one, which is kind of two. Cornell is basically first in the OCI ballgame which allows those you didn't do well some time to massmail and stuff before its too late, also tying into that, because of the different job fairs, students have an opportunity to see if they are successful or not at OCI and those who would for instance screw up AJF can improve and go into Boston/DC job fairs more prepared and with a different game plan. this is compared to other schools where its really a 3 or 4 day make it or it sucks for you period.bwv812 wrote:Cornell has a lot fewer students to place, though. This helps in at least two ways: by making it easier for career services to place individual students (though it probably doesn't help that much unless Cornell's career services is actually good); and also by ensuring that some (marginal) students will get serious consideration at some firms simply because those firms want to have someone from Cornell at them in order to preserve their relationship with the school.ImNoScar wrote:redsox550 wrote:Yeah that number seems dubious.BullShitWithBravado wrote: That number seems high. O ya a 3rd advantage (just remembered) is that because Cornell is smaller, less firms come. But that is beneficial since its probably the same firm to student ratio as other schools, but this way you can massmaill more effectively. For instance, you can email a decent list of NYC vault firms in July and tons of other firms in Boston & DC saying "Hi, I love you, but you arnt coming to Cornell, can we set up a screener" and thus get a ton more interviews (though this is probably not taken advantage of as much as it should) compared to if u go to NYU or Columbia, it will be difficult to find a decent size firm in NYC that is not interviewing at the school and thus you wont be able to get extra interviews or "practice" interviewing before OCI/AJF.
Still would be very surprised if Cornell has a higher percentage of people succeeding at OCI

I know they were strongly considering the offer but not sure if they accepted.
