I'm a rising 2L and have an interest in working in Immigration Law. Does Fragomen have a summer associate program? what do they pay? I can't find much info on salary online.

Best bet is probably to just email an alum.

I was a paralegal there recently. 1L summers were paid $25/hour, 2L summers were paid $30/hour. No guaranteed offers at the end of either summer. But they pay ~$140k starting, and the hours are relatively light compared to standard biglaw hours.

Probably closer to what some people would consider midlaw instead of biglaw.

Friend of mine was a paralegal there for a few years (may still be there), and he told me he really enjoyed it and liked the environment there.

This is completely team dependent. Teams range from 2-8 or so attorneys and 1-10 or so paralegals. You will be assigned to a team according to client, and then in some cases a sub-team according to non-immigrant visa work vs. visa work.

It is a large office, and personalities vary HUGE amounts from team to team. Some of the partners are great, some are miserable screamers.

There are decent enough perks though. Happy hours with food/booze in the office once per month, bagel spreads/dress down days every Friday (though when I was working there, the bagels were awful), and Summer/Christmas parties that are moderately swagged out.

Anyone know if they accept post-grad law clerks?

The only alum at the office I'd like to work at is a partner....Is it normal for a law student to straight up email a partner for information?

Yeah, I've done it quite a few times, even at V10's.

Typically they don't hire until a few years out but they've been doing some recent grad hiring. Honestly probably the best place to be to do employment-based immigration, even though the hours can be rough depending on your office/team. Still, my understanding is that everyone in immigration notices "Fragomen" on the resume.
