should references strive to be from academic professors or can it be from professional individuals?

Why not both? I'm using references from 1) 1L prof 2) 1L summer supervisor and 3) work supervisor from before law school

Best to have a mix of perspectives IMO.

i do plan to use a mix. if so, is it better to have more academic (as in lower education systems?) or doesnt matter?
