Question for Litigation Associates

What is your practice, firm size, and orientation (defense/plaintiff) AND,
How early in your careers did you first do the following:
draft discovery
discuss case issues with clients
negotiate with opposing counsel
Attend hearings solo
Defend a deposition
Take a deposition
Second chair during a trial
First chair during trial
Any other stepping stones?

Another, I think (at least for patent lit), is just going to a trial. I've been lucky enough to go three times in my first few years (first time was 1st year).

maybe they don't do a lot of hearings in patent law?

depends on which court you practice. I would assume s/he does ITC work, which takes only 10 months from filing of the complaint to your last reply brief after trial.
