Figured I'd start an OCI thread: How many bids did everyone get? Anyone want to trade? What markets were you bidding?

17 here, don't know if that's good or bad.

Edit: Would seem as though 17 wasn't so hot. I bid NYC, what markets were people with 30+ bids going for?

I had no idea that even existed until now.

I got 29 out of 35ish bids. So far I've heard people getting anywhere from a low of 15ish to as many as 30+.

I got 32/60. Only 30 firms though (got the Philly DA's office and the NYC law office). 29/35 is REALLY damn good though, congrats.

26/60 - NYC and DC. Trying to split with DC definitely brought my total down.

I'm hearing a wide range of results, also.

Also only got 17, bidding only NYC.

NYC and Philly mostly, but I threw in a few random other cities in my last ~28 bids (ended up getting 4 Wilmington interviews, 2 interviews with LA firms, and 1 with a Houston firm... not expecting anything out of them, but the experience will be nice).

I threw in like 5-6 bids for DC (mostly in the 30's) and didn't get any. Definitely more popular than Wilmington.

29/35 above. I think that bidding mostly DC helped me get more screeners. People who bid straight NYC seem to have gotten fewer. Less selective NYC offices were predictably really popular. I picked up a bunch of V10 NYC offices in the 20-30 range.

From my own experience and talking to others, seems like it was really hard to get any NYC firms (bar a few with lots of interview slots) after about bid 20, which meant that the beginning of your bidlist had to be pretty much perfect.

check out the classified, people will be dumping their bids for whatever reasons, just ask them to give the bids to you

25/60 here. I mostly bid on DC and NY (more DC), with some SV as well. I ended up with all of my SV picks which I'm happy about plus oddly enough, 2 Philly firms and 1 Chicago firm. 18/20 for my top 20 though so I'm super stoked about that.

Maybe everyone on here did better than non-TLS'ers, but I'm legitimately amazed how many people here have 20+ interviews. I thought that was a rarity (and believe me, I was amazed when I saw how many I had).

I got 22/60 but I also have 14 interviews through regionals so I'm pretty happy!

I'm in the high 20s. Targeting NYc. Most of the people I've spoken with are in a similar boat.

Were they V20ish? Or did you pick up any smaller firms? I picked up all of my top ten, but only 4 of my 11-20 (one of which was a secondary market) and 3 NY after 20 (21, 24, 31), but I didn't bid Skadden etc. at all because I figured my grades would make those wasted bids anyways. I'm wondering if those are the firms I missed out on, or if people were getting Akin type firms even in the teens or 20s.

Two were v20s. Others were a lot lower down in the rankings with small class sizes. I picked one up at 34. I picked up Akin at 30

The big elite NYC firms were easily obtainable in the 20s.

I'm one of the OCI interviewers at Penn for my firm and I'm trying to think back to what good interviewers did/did not do, especially since this is not only about finding great candidates, but also convincing them that my firm is somewhere they'd want to work. Do you feel like there are certain questions that break the ice best or that you are prepared for but no one ever asks? I think we'll have to do the obligatory "why X city" "why our firm" "what are your interests", only because we'll need to report back to the firm, but I'd like to actually get to know candidates beyond the super rehearsed Q&A that tends to happen. Having the same exact conversation 20 times in a day does not sound fun

Interesting question. I obviously can't speak for everyone else, but I hope to get to speak a lot (basically, more than just answering 1 "tell me about your summer" question) about my summer internship because I feel like I've done a lot of important, substantive work. My least favorites are the "How well do you think you did" and "What did you think about 1L year" questions. I'm never sure how happy I should seem with my performance with the first question, and I'll never understand why people ask the second because its not really a secret that no one likes law school. Anyway, those are my thoughts.

Does anyone know how many spots we are likely to get of the waitlists? Thanks!
