Hello all - I am particularly interested in M&A in NY and am wondering if any firms give out offers to specific departments within the firm. I know Cravath has a strict rotation system, but is it possible to receive an offer from S&C or Skadden M&A's department? Or do you simply receive a "corporate associate" offer and must cozy up to the right partners to find the type of work that you desire.
Thanks.

Re: Department Offers
Do you have a strong background in M&A? Otherwise your chances are probably slim even if it's an option.
For instance, Curtis, Mallet-Prevost hries generally for other groups but specifically for their Bankruptcy group - reason being its a small group and they hire people who have a dedicated background/interst (BK LLM, prior work expeirience, etc.).
