Probably. Unless you are top 20% and go to a T25. Otherwise, definitely a waste of time.

So top 1/3 at a T25 is a no.

Most firms won't be looking for 3Ls until after they've firmed up offers for their outgoing Summers save for the 3LOCI firms who only want people with offers in hand. So a non-structured fair like that is not going to be helpful, outside of making connections if the firm has a slot open up for a 3L. If you're in DC, have the cash and have a day to kill I'd go, though. Can't hurt.

Someone told me a below median 3L at Loyola (Chi.) got an offer from Sidley through Lavender last year. So, if you are desperate, here is some anecdotal hearsay of a positive outcome as a 3L from the event.

So top 15% at T10 (MVB) with LR might have a decent shot at Lav Law? Any reasons you draw the line where you suggest?

I think it's worth going! Obviously target firms that have hired 3Ls in the past (Cravath, STB, PW, clifford chance, Cooley, Latham - all interviewed or hired 3Ls at my T6's OCI last fall). That's not an exhaustive list, obviously, so do some research and plan your career fair strategy!

Going to Lav Law too! 2L, slightly below median grades, mid-T14.
Hopefully get something out of this.

I did this and didn't find it to be super helpful if you're only looking for firms. I had better luck with firms through mass mailing. Ultimately, I thought lavender law turned out to be worth it because I was legitimately interested in a number of the government offices that came, and I got way more second-round interviews with them. My school also reimbursed me the cost of attending.

You have nothing to lose, so if you're in or near DC I would say it's worth doing, but I wouldn't travel a long distance for it.

Its probably a waste of time, but I might try. Make a vacation out of it. Town nightclub closes so you should try it out.
