Top Law Schools

Hi, I'm a 2L that is participating in my Law School's Off-Campus interviewing in NY and DC, and I was wondering what sort of writing sample I should submit. I have both briefs and memos from LRW I and II, but I've currently been working at a small firm in NY, so I have a memo or two from my Summer position. However, the work I have from school is mostly Seventh Circuit work, whereas my Summer work is all NY state law. Finally, the work I've completed in LRW is more complex than what I've accomplished during my Summer employment. I was wondering if I should use the NY work or the Seventh Circuit stuff. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You should use whatever you think shows your best writing, regardless of concerns about jurisdiction or applicable law. If you use something from work, ask your supervisor and be sure to redact anything that could be considered even remotely confidential.

Thank you, I really appreciate it. Would you account for complexity? For instance, one sample is extremely well written with sound analysis, but is single issue, and the other is fairly well written, but deals with a complex multi-issue case. I realize that you've specified "best writing," but wanted to know how to choose between two well written, but not identical quality, pieces with vastly different levels of complexity. Thanks!
