Patton Boggs in deep trouble

Just lost their lucrative Ecuador lobbying contract:
http://legaltimes.typepad.com/blt/2013/ ... uador.html
Partners departing, associates/staff getting shitcanned, and might lose a monster Chevron oil spill case soon- hope no one was dumb enough to do OCI/SA or bid on this place. It'll be out of business by the end of this year, mark my words. No big loss, this was a TTT biglaw shop anyway. Bet they're already pinching pennies by buying knockoff toner cartridges and packing newbies 3 deep in offices, etc. I interviewed for a doc review gig there once and the partners were extremely nasty, so nice to see this TTTTToilet get its teeth kicked in. Good riddance.
Wade Boggs, however, is doing great:

Patton Boggs lobbying shop made $45 million last year. Think they'll be alright.
They are the top lobbying firm in the country, revenue wise.

I find it ironic that interviewed for doc review at it, yet call it TTT.

Neither of those things are inconsistent

I worked at a biglaw firm for slightly less than a year (I quit a few months ago and am about to work with a non-profit) I would say I did not enjoy it at all, except for the first week, once the novelty wore off.
I did not interview at patton boggs but an upperclassman works there. I hope she won't be laid off any time soon.

I suppose I never grasped that there was a necessity of inconsistency between the two statements. I thought it could be used for hypocrisy.

Makes sense why Patton Boggs isn't doing well. Lobbying as a whole isn't doing well. Clients are increasingly not wanting to pay because of economic uncertainty, and lobbying isn't needed as much when Congress does nothing. Maybe there is some room for lobbying with regulations, say, in health care or immigration. But lobbying shops aren't hopping these days.

Might as well spill the beans.
