2L big law SA- 3L oci?

Currently a 2L summer associate at a big firm. Since my school's ( and probably every school?) oci bids are due before the end of the SA do people just apply to OCI and then pull out and cancel interviews when/if you get the offer at your SA firm at the end of the summer?

CLS has a special 3L cancellation policy because a lot of people don't hear back from their summer firm before the bidding deadline for 3L EIP starts. The policy is that 3Ls can cancel all their interviews at any time if they get an offer from their 2L firm.
So, I think most people just sign up and then cancel.
