Mayer Brown NYC actually doesn't look like too much of a reach given past OCI data. You're a bit on the low end for a lot of these firms but you can probably swing it to NYC and Chicago if you've got ties. Philly too. This looks like a pretty decent bid list all around, with most of your reaches near the bottom.

Yeah most of the firms you have ranked 31-40 are big reaches. Good to place those lower, some good ones up top. Talk to career services and see where most in your gpa range get offers

Not OP, but at a peer school with similar grades and noticed that Mayer Brown had similarly low standards at our OCI. As in some of the lowest of any firms coming to OCI. Anyone know why that is?

OP here. Any idea how much more selective the Chicago office is over the NYC office? Should I pick one over the other as my #1?

Move the smaller firms and the firms that don't care about grades up (like Seward). Your career office will be telling everyone from above median on down to target these firms, plus they usually don't interview very many people to start with. If you don't have them up front, you won't get an interview.

I'm not at Penn so I can't tell you how popular they are but I'd be pretty surprised if Mayer Chicago isn't available at #2

I had a 3.11 GPA at Penn in 2011 OCI. I struck out. I recommend you starting to apply outside of OCI asap. My mistake was relying only on OCI and starting to apply outside of OCI only after mid-Sept. By then, most firms have already finished hiring or moved on to callback stages. It was really tough to be so late in the game. Don't repeat my mistake.

Looks solid to me, but to echo the other poster, you cannot rely on OCI. Scour the resume collects, mass-mail the shit out of secondary markets to which you have solid ties, leverage connections early and often...

Feel free to PM me. I was in a similar situation and can give you additional advice on what, and what not to do.
