PSA on bidlists: avoid major mistakes; can't be fine-tuned

Time for a friendly PSA as "plz critique bidlist halp do I bid DLA piper at spot 23 or spot 24 and does it matter that I got an A- in torts" threads start to become popular.

No matter what school you're at, your bidlist is hard to fine-tune to any great degree. You want to be strategic and avoid bidding on overly competitive firms if your credentials are mediocre, but don't avoid the large "top" firms which are relatively easier to get interviews at just because you don't have a 4.0. Choose regions carefully, but many different strategies can work depending on your background.

Bidding is a very inexact art, so don't expect too much to come from bid list critiquing. There's just not much to say unique to any individual bidder. Most people around X GPA looking for Y market will have a similar bid list... for fairly wide bands of "X GPA" as well!
