So, networking.

I'm a rising 2L at a T14, and everyone at my school has stressed the importance of networking this summer before OCI, and reaching out to attorneys at firms you want to work for to grab a cup of coffee or something and talk about the firm, more for the "I have something to say about this firm at interviews" thing. Now, I went to a bunch of the firm 1L events, and have business cards of attorneys, and I wouldn't feel too weird sending any of them an email to set up a meeting, but what's the generally accepted method of reaching out to people you've never met? OCS suggested finding someone who went to my same undergrad, but it still seems kind of a weird overture to make, out of the blue like that. A second issue is that I'm not working this summer in the city that I want to target at OCI. I could come in on a weekend, but would that be considered imposing? Should I ask just to trade emails or talk on the phone?
Any help with the whole process (or if there's a megapost that walks us through the networking thing) is much appreciated.
