Are there any advantages and/or disadvantages to doing a split summer? Does it lower the chance you get an offer if you are there less than other SA's? When is the appropriate time to request a split summer?

This is for the upcoming fall cycle.

Pros
-You get to compare an inside view at 2 firms.
-(Possibly) more pay.

Cons
-(Possibly) lower chance at an offer.
