Disabled veteran

So what is everyone's opinion on mentioning disabled veteran status? Obviously for the federal system this is easy since you submit an SF15 for veteran preference, but what about in the private sector?
I know there are some tax breaks and such offered to businesses that employ vets but is it that big a factor? Should this be noted on the resume such as "30% VA disabled", just mentioned during an interview or not even bought up? I mean if it gives you a bump for "diversity" that's great but I worry employers might also view this negatively.
