Got an externship with a judge and he emailed me about start dates and such. Is it ok to email him back or is that against court protocols. Anybody have any experience with emailing judges? or should i just email his assistant instead.

If the assistant had sent the email on his behalf I'd suggest replying to the assistant. Since it was the judge who sent the email, it seems a little hinky to me to send a "reply" to anyone but the judge. Just my two cents.

Reply to whoever sent the email. Common sense people.
