Firm Market for Federal Law Clerks

Does anybody know what the market is like for judicial law clerks trying to get firm jobs? I graduated in 2012, am clerking for a federal district court in a flyover city now, and will be clerking in a circuit court next year (3/5/6/8). I'm trying to gauge the chances I have next year of snagging a firm job in a major market. Any thoughts? (If it matters, due to odd circumstances I didn't get a summer associate position at a large law firm my 2L year; instead, I worked at a midsized firm in a small market.)

There's an entire subforum on TLS dedicated to clerking and clerkship job prospects. I'm on my phone, so it's too much trouble to hyperlink it, but it's easy to find.
