Anyone here apply to the open staff attorney position in the SEC's Enforcement Division in DC? The position was for 2013 grads, and I think the position was open to all former interns/externs at the SEC. If so, has anyone heard back about an interview yet? Thanks!

I didn't bother applying.

My impression is that the SEC made this position available purely to attempt to avoid the charge that they don't hire and don't take advantage of externs (both of which, of course, are true).

I'm not going to waste time preparing my application to the SEC until the agency makes a serious commitment to entry-level hiring.

I've heard that 180+ people who met the minimum requirement of JD + former extern applied in the first week after the notice was sent out. If I had to speculate, I would bet on a clerk/DOJ honors/biglaw person with a year or two of experience getting it.

I applied, haven't heard anything yet. My odds at DC are zero, but the SEC took applications for Chicago and Atlanta as well. I'll post if I hear anything re: those offices.
