ladies' bags

oh lord, i hate to ask this. i'm a midlevel that is doing some in-house interviews (think large, sprawling corporate campus). i don't normally carry a tote in my place - usually i wear a backpack/commute in the city. is that lame? whatever.

anyways, i need a tote to tote my crap during some full-day interviews. suggestions? it cannot be too high end. it just needs to look decent. and not lame. i hate all the coach stuff right now or i'd just go coach. (it's so benign).

thought since JDs tend to be more into the bag discussion, i'd ask.

Kate Spade makes great-quality, classic bags - might be a little expensive for what you're looking for though (retail on a large tote will run about 400, although you can get great deals at the outlet).

I'd suggest a large Longchamp Le Pliage. They're affordable, waterproof, and classic with tons of room.

i decided to go with the longchamp le pliage. it's not my favorite, i prefer an open leather/more structured tote, which i found in electric purple (rebecca minkoff) and totally bought [and i would use this bag every day if i drove a car, which i don't] but i am also buying the longchamp le pliage in bilberry. it looks safe to me and even though it's a little preppy for my personal style, it is very standard and i think pretty corporate/west coasty, not too flashy.

fyi lots of bags qualify for the 20% off shoes (including the minkoff) on amazon, and bloomingdales has 20% off everything. i added a bra to my cart to get to the free shipping threshold (99% chance of returning it)

thank you for your advice, definitely everyone says long champ.
