I was wondering, since im starting school this August, and the OCI are in August, do I just get to school then immediately attend the OCI for the firm thats that I would be interested in working for this summer (2014)? There wont be any grade data on me, nor will I have any experience in law on my resume (aside from interning with a local Attorney), but I will have significant ties to the area (which is S.FL).

What im asking is, do I attend OCI?

I'm going to UPenn or Gtown (havent fully decided yet).

August OCI is for 2L summers. The students attending are rising 2Ls (have completed 1L year).

1Ls probably have a smaller OCI in February or so for 1L summer SAs.

OP here:

Great, thanks for that info. Would the dates be listed on firms websites now? Can i expect all the firms that attended the 2L OCI attend the 1L OCI in February?

I doubt it, and I doubt it.

Most people who get 1L SAs get them just from mass mailing firms starting around November or December (there is some ABA deadline you have to wait until before applying). OCI for 1Ls isn't a major thing and it is super hard to get a position from it, from what I've seen.

So if i wanted to do an interview with a firm located in S.FL I take it I would have to pay for travel, etc, or would i be set up with someone who was local or closer to me than farther away?
