Has anyone gotten invitations for this? Anyone know how many they'll take?

Yeah, I have heard they offered out interviews. In the past, I think there's been 2 fellows accepted.
Did you get an invitation? Stats? I was not invited, but know someone who got an invite to interview.

No, I'm not sure how many interviewees there are. I got the interview also though. Best of luck.

What school / rank is necessary for these, typically? Are they typically T14 only?
And what makes a good cover letter? I want to save the planet, or I really dig regulatory law?

It really depends. The fellows I've talked to all varied. The common thread was that they all had good grades (from various schools) and basically did a lot of environmental stuff, whether through clinics, internships, publications, etc. I've met one Vermont grad (which is a school known for environmental law).
Tailor your cover letter in whatever way makes you sound believable and true. Depending on what your internship, work experience is like, that can differ.

I know someone from a lower T1 with a strong environmental law program doing one of these. He did a joint JD/MS in environmental sciences, did mostly (but not exclusively) environmental stuff through school, and had environmental experience before law school. I don't know what his grades were (I thought he seemed really smart and like a good student, but no idea what that translates to in class rank). IIRC his focus was energy policy.

Looks like they interviewed way more candidates for this for the 1 spot they're looking to fill. Seems kind of odd to spend such a long time going through a thorough screening and interview process for 1 spot.

A friend told me, she said they're interviewing 20-30 people. She works at EPA, different region.

Yeah, spending three hours interviewing 20-30 people seems a bit much.

I went through it and it was a pleasure meeting everyone.

I didn't really get a straight-forward answer when I asked when I should hear back. I think they still have to decide if they're going to have 1 or 2 fellows. I'm thinking that we should hear something in May, but who knows...

May huh? That would be optimistic. I think most of us applied in October and actually got responses in like March.

When do you think they'll make an offer? I hope it's not too late, i.e. when we're studying for the bar (or worse - after we take the bar).

I'll quote Derrick Rose: "Only God knows."

I heard there were 200 applications and 20 people were accepted for interviews. I wonder how many candidates got to the contact reference stage. My references were not contacted (that I know of).

Does anyone have any updates on when they'll let us know who got the fellowship?
