Taxation Interview Program Results

Post by Anonymous User » Mon Mar 04, 2013 5:40 pm

Wanted to start this thread to get updates on when employers are sending out callback/2nd round interviews to candidates.

So far I know through others that that Deloitte Business Tax Services has sent out 2nd round interviews.

I haven't heard anything (3 law, 2 accounting interviews), but I'm guessing all the accounting firms will extend callbacks within the next couple of days since they tend to move rather quickly.

I heard (secondhand) that the hiring people at Dechert were supposed to meet Monday to discuss callbacks. Any word if any have been given?

For those who struck out and are interested in a second shot at the Tax Court (or first shot, if you didn't already apply): two judges are accepting applications, in addition to the two who were appointed last month. All require LLMs, so you're already in a good position.

Still no news on callbacks?

Has anyone received replies to the TIP resume requests?

Heard that PWC - NY has made callbacks. Not sure which groups.

I believe PWC (DC) has also made calls. It seems as if all of the accounting firms have at least started giving out callbacks and/or rejections.

Anyone hear from the firms interviewing for Benefits/Executive Comp? I haven't heard much news regarding law firms at all.

Has anyone heard about any law firms giving call backs or rejections? I've heard the accounting firms move much faster. I am wondering when the law firms will start.

Does anyone know the typical timeframe for TIP law firm callbacks? I know regular OCIs for law firms are typically between one and four business days...

Were Milbank rejections sent via snail mail or email?

My plan is to start worrying if I don't hear anything by the end of tomorrow.

So out of all the law firms that interviewed at TIP we only know that Milbank has sent rejections (no confirmed callbacks)? Any other law firm news out there?

I'll add that my friend was contacted by Cravath for additional info from the TIP resume request. At least we know that our resumes went somewhere.

I'm under the impression that (esp. ITE) GULC basically picks up the scraps. Program is held in DC, though.

LOL. Umm not true at all. I know plenty of GT grads from good law schools that could have gone to NYU. I hope you were not that arrogant during your interviews. Yes, NYU is the "better" school but who cares if you were already a competitive candidate.

Easy killer. I didn't even participate in TIP. Just one person's perspective.

Also, "could have gone to NYU but chose GULC" =\= "got a job through TIP as a GULC grad"

I caught glimpse of one or two firm's interview sheets and there seemed to be a rather even split b/w Georgetown and NYU. Not sure how this breaks downs into callbacks/offers though.

Any news on law firm callbacks?!

I Interviewed at Willkie Farr among a couple others and thought they mostly went pretty good. Haven't heard anything back.... from anybody. I'm starting to get a little anxious.

In an alumni panel at GULC, alums who went through TIP in the past couple years (and received offers) said that some firms took 2-3 weeks before getting back to them. The recruiting coordinator for Baker McKenzie DC said that she wasn't sure when they would get back to us because they had to get all of the necessary Tax partners together on one day to go through all of the candidate materials and review the interview notes. I'm assuming other firms might have a similar process, so I wouldn't get too nervous just yet.

Did you interview w/ lots of benefits groups?

I interviewed w/ 3 firms for benefits and have yet to hear anything. Milbank has supposedly sent some rejections, but silence for me. No word from the other two.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
