Wrong forum, no need to be anonymous, and what you do 1L summer doesn't matter too terribly much. But working for a judge is generally pretty fun.

Doesn't it depend on what your other options are? I interned for a state supreme court justice my 1L summer, and it was a good experience - I wrote a lot and got exposed to how the court worked. If you want to work in the market where the court's located, I think it's a decent way to start making connections.

(Also, official TLS reply: it doesn't matter what you do your 1L summer, as long as it's legal.)
