GPA/Rank on Resume

Post by Anonymous User » Mon Jan 21, 2013 2:42 pm

School ranked in the 60s. First semester GPA was 3.429. 2011 graduating class median was 3.404, top 33% was 3.529.

That puts me just slightly above median, like 46% or something. Should I include GPA and rank on resume?

Never include an estimated rank on your resume.

OP here: Yes, of course I know that. But assuming it's around that range, include it or not?

I don't think you should since your percentile is not particularly high. You don't want to actively point out that you're only slightly above median, esp to employers who may not know what median is at your school.

EDIT: This only applies to percent. Definitely include your GPA.

OP here: That's what I was thinking too. Thanks for the advice.

I would put just the GPA. For reference, my GPA is similar to yours, but my rank is much higher, so I think you have a sorta goofy curve.

My resume says basically 3.399 (top-20% = 3.40) since I just missed the cutoff. At my school, your GPA would be close to top-10%. Definitely best to let people think it's higher than "about median."
