I am a bk clerk and will be hiring a 1L to help me out this summer. You will mainly do service checks, write up a few tentative rulings for template-based things like motions to value or relief from stay motions, keep the judge's library tidy, and do any research memos we might need you to work on.

I interned with a bankruptcy judge and it was a great experience. It all depends on the judge. The judge I worked for allowed interns to do a significant amount of substantive writing.

Making sure that motions were properly served on the required parties, at the right address, by certified mail if need be. It's tedious and boring work, which is why judges hand it off to clerks, and clerks hand it off to "rising 2L" externs.
