Anyone have data on their schools? I'll share what I have, which isn't much. GULC OCS says 200 students averaged 1 interview each.

Screening interviews, presumably?Anonymous User wrote:Anyone have data on their schools? I'll share what I have, which isn't much. GULC OCS says 200 students averaged 1 interview each.
Wait- so are you saying that 200 students at Georgetown do not have a job lined up as a 3L?prezidentv8 wrote:Screening interviews, presumably?Anonymous User wrote:Anyone have data on their schools? I'll share what I have, which isn't much. GULC OCS says 200 students averaged 1 interview each.
If so, sounds about right. If callbacks, I am shocked.
If that is shocking to you you have been totally sheltered from the current legal hiring market. Actually considering their class size only having 200 without something lined up at this point in the year isn't all that bad.bizzybone1313 wrote: Wait- so are you saying that 200 students at Georgetown do not have a job lined up as a 3L?
If that's based on who all did OCI, that's actually damn good. People also do OCI because they haven't heard from their firm by OCI or want to trade up.BruceWayne wrote:If that is shocking to you you have been totally sheltered from the current legal hiring market. The only reason it is shocking is because it is from such a prestigious law school. No wonder you guys call it GeorgeTTTown. It would be a different story if it was from a TTT from South Dakota.BruceWayne wrote:If that is shocking to you you have been totally sheltered from the current legal hiring market. I did (not IP). I agree the numbers are small but definitely not non-existent.Anonymous User wrote: I have not met a single person who did not have an SA who got a job through EIP as a 3L this year although perhaps there were a few IP people in that category.
I don't know how many people at GULC do or don't have jobs. However, your assumption is a dumb one, no offense. Just because that many people did 3L OCI interviews does not mean all of those people didn't have jobs. I know this because I was one of the ones who did 3L OCI interviews at GULC and I did have a job. I had an offer from my firm but the way GULC's system works, you have to bid on interviews before you have an offer with your firm. So, hundreds and hundreds of people end up bidding and then they get their interview schedules. After those people who have interviews get offers from their summer firms, some of them will cancel. I didn't cancel my 3L OCI interview despite getting an offer from my firm (I was hoping to see what else was out there) and I have many friends who went through with their interviews as well, despite having offers. I had more than one interview through 3L OCI, but less than five. I know a few others who did as well. You just had to be proactive at signing up for slots as other people cancelled, etc.bizzybone1313 wrote:Wait- so are you saying that 200 students at Georgetown do not have a job lined up as a 3L?prezidentv8 wrote:Screening interviews, presumably?Anonymous User wrote:Anyone have data on their schools? right, I didn't mean absolutely non-existent, which is why I said:Anonymous User wrote:I did (not IP). But I would be very curious to find out the number of offers this year for 3Ls at EIP. Do you know anyone else? So far all I know is me and you.me wrote:I would be surprised if more than 10 3Ls got offers through EIP this year.
Any clues as to why this person, or other people in a similar position, achieve the impossible... get an 3LOLCI jerb without having a 2L SA. High grades? Great summer experience? Went to a coach and became awesome interviewers? Pure luck? I struck out at about top 1/3 of my T-14, I am guessing interview problems, and I wonder whether there is any 3L OCI hope if I let's say go into top 1/5 by taking substantial courses.Anonymous User wrote:I did (not IP). Well the way you said it made it seem like the only 3Ls who got offers through EIP were either IP or they had a 2L SA. I was just providing a counterpoint. I know someone else who got an offer but s/he had a 2L SA. Pretty much everyone else I know is either clerking or going back to their 2L firms. In other words, I don't think the sample size is very large to begin with. Your guess of no more than 10 3Ls actually sounds pretty plausible to me.Anonymous User wrote:right, I didn't mean absolutely non-existent, which is why I said:Anonymous User wrote:I did (not IP). Yeah I only know one person who didn't get a job through EIP as a 2L. Other than that person whose plans I don't know (kind of an awkward thing to inquire about...), every single person I know had a 2L SA, got an offer, and is either going back there or is clerking. But I know there are 3Ls out there who didn't have 2L SAs (or got no-offered) and still don't have anything lined up. Maybe 10% of the class? Of course they are not vocal about it, and it is awkward to ask about, so it ends up being an invisible problem, which plays in the administration's favor because they don't have to address it aside from quietly funneling those unlucky 3Ls into their one-year postgrad fellowship.Anonymous User wrote:Well the way you said it made it seem like the only 3Ls who got offers through EIP were either IP or they had a 2L SA.
