I was wondering if anybody has insight as to the potential effect of Sandy on some downtown firms. There are a bunch of them located in the Financial District that are still without power, and may not have access to their offices for a couple of weeks, if not more. Although they are likely finding temporary space and working from home, is there a chance that Sandy hurts one of these firms' performance so much so that either (1) SA for 2013 are rescinded, (2) start dates are pushed back, (3) permanent offers from the past summer are rescinded? Is this is too much paranoia?

Probably paranoia.

Think about it, the fact that they might be behind in their work would mean they have more work to do not less.

I haven't been downtown in a few days, but I thought power was totally restored as of Friday/Saturday.

Also, I'm guessing people have just been working from home. Life goes on.

OP here - there are currently over 400 buildings that are either still without power or are not cleared to be operational.

This is correct, and the case with the building that I work in. Also, there is a significant amount of material that is not accessible due to server problems, making it difficult to work from home even.

I'm guessing that lots of law firms have disaster/business interuption insurance, particularly after 9/11.

Stroock is borrowing offices from K&E. S&C moved to space on 54th and Madison.

Cleary reopened this past friday.

Sullcrom and Fried Frank both closed for a few weeks...
