Did they also tell you whether they will hire more if Romney wins? I bet DLA Piper will hire more if Obama wins.

It's simple. DC firms will hire more if Obama wins while New York firms will hire more if Romney wins. Under Obama, the IRS would bring in as much money to DC as Romney's tax cuts and deregulation for Wall Street would to NYC. Romney also plans to escalate tensions with China, which would greatly hinder the D.C. government's ability to wage more wars or hand out more free stuff on credit.
Texas firms would be well advised to root for Obama because $4/gallon gas is really good for business. The Keystone XL Pipeline to Canada that Obama vetoed would have put Baker Botts under for sure.

I know more than a few firms that will be hurting if all of the regulations they bill clients on are removed under Romney.

Some firms make big money by representing either Republicans or Dems. It would be beneficial to find out which party your firm represents. At that point, be supportive, or say nothing.

I'd be wary of going to any firm so vested in one candidate that it impacts their revenue and/or growth projections going forward to such an extent that it trickles down to their SA decisions.
Any firm management worth its salt will have the firm positioned to be election-neutral.
