Informational Interviews

Have you guys ever heard of a law firm that invites candidates for informational interviews? What is the purpose of this?

It's certainly possible that they are considering her employment. However, based on the fact that you said her law school forwarded her resume, I have a feeling that the school probably framed it in terms of "hire her or talk to her." So, the law firm is talking to her. However, that certainly doesn't mean that the firm won't hire her if she does well in the information interview - there are many stories about people getting real interviews after informational ones.Anonymous User wrote:Ok, I have a friend who graduated in May who got a random informational interview invitation from a midsize law firm. I graduated a few years ago, and I work in the public interest field, so I am not sure what advice to give her. Are unsolicited informational interviews common among small/midsize law firms?
