Worth Mass Mailing?

T25, Top 1/3, LR. It seems like I'm going to strike out with OCI. Our school told us at this point it's too late to mass mail the big firms. Is this true? Would I be wasting my time?

Do you have anything else better to do with your life? I would mass mail, but probably avoid firms out of your range.

For NYC, look at GPA charts at your school. I would not be optimistic about it.
For secondary market where you from, focus cover letter on ties.
For market where school is located/places, look at GPA charts.

Your career services advised you to not even bother??? I'm sitting on two callbacks that I got through mass-mailing last week. Similar stats.

Get to work. Copy every V100 firm into a word doc & cross them out as you apply. Repeat with the rest of the NLJ 250 & any desired firms in your home market. Remember, you'll never have a better chance to get on the biglaw train than right now; who cares if a firm "out of your range" mails you a rejection letter?

I agree with this. Mass mail NOW! I mass mailed around this time last year and had CBs trickling in through the end of Oct.

Is it really time to start mass mailing firms? I thought most firms wouldn't know whether they were planning on hiring anyone until at least spring of 3L and more likely not until after we passed the bar exam? Is there a different time table for large, medium, and small firms? Thanks for any help!

I don't know if this is representative, but I was just offered an interview at a V25-50 in NYC. I applied several weeks ago, but it appears that some firms are definitely still looking.

Additionally, I don't think it matters if you think it's out of your range, apply anyway.

Mass mail. At my T14, V100 NYC offices are still listing themselves on our Symplicity and offering interviews.
