Reading another thread got me thinking. How long do you need to stick around at a firm to get your clerkship bonus?

In the other thread people said he'd have to return it? How long until its yours forever?

12 months is the general norm, although firms differ on this requirement as well as other details (e.g. whether you have to pay back the entire bonus if you leave early, or merely a prorated portion thereof).

I am not OP but have a related question.

Are the bonuses pretty standard for V20 firms in major markets (NY DC)? 50k for on clerkship and then more for two? How much is typical for someone who does a Fed. Dist. Ct. and then a COA (1 year each)?

Thanks.
