Do the exit options at the 4-5 year point differ greatly between the litigation and transactional side at a V25 firm (satellite office in my case)?

Yes, of course they do.

how so?, where do people go from litigation vs. transactional?

I imagine transactional leads to in -house more, but where do litigation end up?

My OCS told me Lit tends to go Gov't after a few years and Transactional tends to go in-house.

Anecdotal however, I've definitely known exceptions to both these general rules.

There was a study somewhere that found ~67% of inhouse attorneys came from corporate backgrounds while ~33% came from litigation backgrounds.

Conversely I'd imagine government and boutique firms are disproportionately litigators.

There are in-house positions for lateral litigation candidates, just not as many as there are for corporate folks. Other exit options for litigators are government, public interest, or as an analyst type position with either the judicial or legislative branches.
