Top Law Schools

I struck out OCI and mass mailing, at t14 with top quarter grades, I have no excuse for taking a year off but at this point I have zero motivation. Any advice?

no backup plan, maybe I could say I just had personal issues during year off, but Im sure law school would look terribly upon that during my re-2L oci.

Edit: A lot of debt 200k+, yes I'm retarded etc, no real backup plan from undergrad degrees.

Edit2:Was biglaw or bust, now that it's bust, wondering if LOA would feasibly give me a shot at biglaw second time around, doesn't seem realistic.

How many firms did you mass mail, and how do you figure you've "struck out" of it?

I didn't mass mail early, I have a lot of debt, something wrong with my resume or interviewing even though people I've talked to have said it's fine. Had a lot of screeners but very few CBs and my grades were ok.

Dude, I am in a similar position, top 1/3 at t-14. Be aware that mass mailing can still work, especially with your stats. Start as soon as possible. Firms always have empty spots. Apply broadly. You would be surprised by how many firms miscalculate their acceptance rates.
Does you school allow you to do again OCI? Seems to good to be true, and an incentive for all high-gpa strike outs to call it quit for a year.

Yes I asked and if you take a LOA you can do 2LOCI again as if you didn't participate in it, but I have no idea wtf I will do for a year or explain it to law firms.

First, mass mail, mass mail. There are firms who get surprised and cannot fill classes. It happens. You are at an advantage because of your grades.
If not, who cares about how you explain it to firms? They will hire you if the market pick ups, and not if market stays the same. It is not like you lose anything by taking a year off.

No I'm just bad interviewer or bad resume most people did well with medianish grades

i think maybe you should try to get more advice about your interviewing skills and/ or resume. i know someone from USC who got NYC biglaw. at median.

I'm unhappy with how I've done so far this OCI season, so I sent out some resumes over the weekend to most of the V50 firms. Got a callback today for an NYC firm. Firms are still looking!

NYC biglaw boat has sailed at this point for me, most firms ask me why I didn't get them during OCI or why I didn't bid on their secondary market during OCI.

when you look at last years and the year before's call back threads for different firms a lot of them definitely went deeper into september than now.

OP you seem set on dropping out/leave of absence..if that's not what you actually want to do, then take all the great advice that's being offered! keep mass mailing! read keg's thread on how to get biglaw post OCI! you still have a shot as of now but you've got to get moving ASAP.
