Hughes Hubbard v. Fried Frank. I know the rankings but any personal insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

I love you for adding a "doesn't make a difference" button. I don't know enough about HH to weigh in, but more people need to do this.

Neither stand out in my mind. Both pay market salary. Go with the good ol "fit test."

Thanks to those who are commenting! For those who picked one firm over the other, is there any particular reason?

I only had experiences with one of the two firms, but I'd be curious to hear about OP's decision when s/he makes it.

My understanding is HH is superior in lit, but I might be wrong. They do much better in rankings for job satisfaction and other areas related to that as well, especially in AmLaw (read: diversity, women).

Also, the career center information on Above the Law paints a pretty sharp difference between the two. I would ignore the Vault rankings on this one. At least for me HH would be the clear choice. (Full disclosure I only did screeners with both firms that I have already been dinged at.)

I voted for HH for exactly those reasons - it has an awesome reputation for associate satisfaction, diversity, and a lot of other QOL-related-variables. I worked at another firm with a similar profile (V50-V100, very high AmLaw scores, high QOL scores), loved it, and didn't see any of the unhappiness and misery that people usually report at big law firms. It's also a better litigation shop than FF, but I'd pick it even if it weren't.

One other thing to consider: FF is in good shape financially. Perhaps a better way to put it is that FF is very financially conservative. They might not have the best PPP, but they have been very careful to not over-hire so that they won't have to no-offer or do stealth layoffs. I have no idea whether that also applies to HHR.

Thank you for the insight. I think the same can be said for HH. They tend to be very financially conservative from what I understand.

Almost picked HH myself, met multiple partners in Lit, they are lovely. They have a personality though, so definitely make sure you feel like you're a good fit there.
