Two weeks since screener

Had a screener with a mid-size firm in the southeast two weeks ago and have not heard back since. Can I assume that my ding is just in the mail or do firms keep people in a holding pattern while waiting to see what their first choice candidates will do? Or is it just that southern firms are generally slower?

Some firms are slow - a couple of firms took more than two weeks to give me a callback, in some cases due to mistakes at the firm. But that's the exception rather than the rule, so I wouldn't get your hopes up.

I don't think it's a "holding pattern" as you suggest. Typically firms invite plenty of people for callbacks; holding of candidates seems to occur later in the process.

That's what I thought, thanks.
