Would you rather be a big fish in a little pond?

This really depends on where you want to live in a lot of ways. They are both great IP firms, and I have friends at both who enjoy their lives at both (as much as one enjoys life while billing at least). Barnes has a little more stability, but I think that Brinks has been doing fine lately too. But these two cities are very, very, very different. Indy is a lot less expensive, but having lived in both Chicago and Indy I would never, ever pick Indy. Some people, however, really like it. (Though if you're young and single, Chicago all the way).

The other major question is prosecution vs lit. Have you done much pros? Do you want to eventually move into transactional work or lit?

How are you ambivalent between Indianapolis (shithole) and Chicago (one of the best cities in the world)?

Pick based on what you want to do. I'd take Brinks because I don't want straight pros, but that's me.
